Live Well North East

Resilience Bootcamp – Durham Area Youth Mental Health Project

Live Well North East were subcontracted to deliver two Resilience Bootcamp courses with young people at local charity Durham Area Youth.

Youth workers identified two small groups of young people aged 11-17 years old that would benefit from additional support with their mental wellbeing.

Each group took part in Live Well NE’s 12 week programme, ‘Resilience Bootcamp’ combining physical activity and mental wellbeing group work.

Improved mental health

There were some key stories of change throughout the project, with the young people developing new knowledge, understanding and insights through the learning they engaged in.

They told us about the impact the project has had:

“I use the tapping massage and breathing to help me when I’m getting stressed in school.”

“I’ve joined the football team. I was too scared to join before cos I thought I was crap.”

“I’ve started to notice when I’m getting stressed, then I go find someone to talk to.”

“Its easier to talk about how I’m feeling now, and that really helps.”

“I feel better about myself.”
